An unusual blog has unexpectedly gained popularity on Russian-speaking Instagram. The account @spoon_vs_the_wall posts short daily videos of a man trying to drill a hole in a concrete wall with a spoon.

The videos are extremely simple: a gloved hand, a spoon and a round indentation in the wall that the blogger methodically deepens. Each video includes a counter such as «Day 21,» «Day 26» or «9,000 blows.»

The account has already amassed more than 250,000 followers. In the comment section, users discuss how thick the wall might be and when the «light at the end of the tunnel» will appear.

The man behind the project remains anonymous. The account’s profile contains only a simple rule: «1 follower = 1 blow on the wall.» He encourages people to subscribe and «break this wall together.» His ultimate goal is to reach 500,000 followers.

Why do people find this interesting?

The popularity of such videos can be explained by several factors. First, there is the «slow content» effect. In an era of fast-paced videos and short-form content, many viewers are unexpectedly drawn to extremely simple and repetitive actions that unfold slowly.

Second, there is the «series effect» when viewers return to check the progress: whether the hole has become deeper and if the blogger is getting closer to his goal. Similar projects have repeatedly gone viral on social media, proving that a minimalist idea and a clear goal can be more engaging than complex production.
