In Islamic tradition, the night is described in the Quran as being «better than a thousand months,» and it is widely regarded as a time for spiritual renewal, prayer and seeking forgiveness.
The Spiritual Administration of Kazakhstan’s Muslims (SAKM) has shared guidance on how believers can observe the night and highlighted a prayer recommended in Islamic teachings.
Prayer recommended for the Night of Power
Prophet Muhammad taught that believers should seek forgiveness from God during Laylat al-Qadr. He recommended a specific supplication to his wife Aisha bint Abu Bakr.

Meaning: O Allah, You are Pardoning and you love pardon, so pardon me.
How believers traditionally observe the night
Laylat al-Qadr is not simply about staying awake late into the night. It is considered a time for mindful worship and reflection. Common practices include:
Prayer and recitation of the Quran: Performing voluntary night prayers, such as Tahajjud, and reciting or listening to passages from the Quran.
Repentance: Asking for forgiveness for past mistakes and making sincere intentions for the future.
Charity: Giving to those in need, as acts of charity are believed to carry multiplied rewards on this night.
Supplication: Offering prayers for oneself, family members and the well-being of society.
