On Feb. 4, a cargo ship carrying automobiles from Southampton, England, to New York, U.S., picked up an unexpected passenger: a 2-year-old male red fox, the Associated Press reported.

The day after the ship’s arrival on Feb. 18 at the Port of New York and New Jersey, the fox was taken to the Bronx Zoo, where it has been receiving care at the veterinary facility. According to the zoo, the animal appears healthy.

It remains unclear how the fox got onto the ship or when it was discovered. Its permanent home will be determined after several additional health screenings.

Previously, Kursiv LifeStyle reported on a funny video filmed in Kazakhstan during winter ice fishing, showing a fox attempting to steal a sled loaded with caught fish while the angler stood nearby.
