
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has formally signed the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan at a solemn event held in Astana, the Akorda reported.
The president also signed a decree on measures to implement the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan adopted on March 15, 2026. Following the procedure, Tokayev addressed attendees, stating that the Constitution will come into effect on July 1.
The president also said that the state holiday marking the adoption — Constitution Day — will be celebrated annually on March 15.
The president expressed gratitude to citizens who took part in the referendum, noting residents of the Pavlodar, Aktobe, Mangystau, Zhambyl, Turkestan, East Kazakhstan, Zhetysu and Kyzylorda regions, among others, who supported and voted for the Constitution.
On Feb. 11, 2026, Tokayev signed a decree calling a nationwide referendum for March 15, 2026.
Turnout across the country totaled 9,126,850 voters, or 73.24% of those on the electoral rolls. The highest turnout was recorded in the Kyzylorda region (93.04%) and the lowest in Almaty — 33.43%.
