A vast musical fountain complex covering around eight hectares is set to be constructed in New Tashkent. Kursiv LifeStyle takes a look at the ambitious project by the Uzbek authorities.
According to the project, a 6.3-hectare pool will be built at the center of the complex, while the main fountain for water-and-light shows is planned to span 1.5 hectares.
The centerpiece of the complex will be a super fountain with a jet reaching up to 232 meters high and a platform 100 meters in diameter. A circular water screen with a diameter of 185 meters is also planned. Images will be projected onto the water jets from all sides, as on a large panoramic screen.
Performances will be powered by lasers, dynamic water compositions, and other visual effects. The hardware — pumps, electrical systems, and projectors — is expected to be housed two stories beneath the complex. The area around the water feature will include green spaces and supporting infrastructure.
Authorities expect the project to become one of the landmarks of New Tashkent, a satellite city of Uzbekistan’s capital.
Despite the project’s promising prospects, the fountain will not be the tallest in the world. That title currently belongs to the King Fahd’s Fountain in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, which shoots water up to 312 meters.
