Driverless cars and delivery service drones will be tested in Kazakhstan this year, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev said.

«A pilot project for driverless cars involving international tech companies is planned. The project is scheduled for the second quarter of 2026,» Madiyev said during the Cabinet meeting.

He said that the necessary infrastructure to implement such solutions is being put in place in Kazakhstan. Moreover, a pilot project introducing delivery drones is underway as part of a private initiative.

«This will allow us to test new models of urban mobility and logistics,» Madiyev emphasized.

Previously, it was announced that Kosshy would be one of the first cities in Kazakhstan to receive robotaxis. The project will be implemented in partnership with Yandex and inDrive. Driverless taxis are also expected to begin operating in Almaty and Astana.
