A man in Sweden is set to stand trial on accusations that he sexually exploited his wife over several years, according to SVT.

Allegations span multiple years

Prosecutors say the alleged abuse took place in the Ängermanland region between August 2022 and October 2025. During that time, authorities claim, the woman was under her husband’s complete control.

Investigators allege he restricted her freedom, monitored her through cameras installed in their home and exercised extensive control over her daily life.

Claims of coercion and control

According to the prosecution, the man also supplied his wife with drugs, leading to dependency that was used as a means of control.

Authorities say the woman may have been forced into sexual encounters with more than 120 men. Prosecutors estimate there could be several hundred incidents in total, including both in-person and online encounters.

Charges and legal proceedings

The man faces multiple charges, including eight counts of rape, four counts of attempted rape, as well as allegations of violence and threats. Investigators say he threatened to kill his wife and cause other serious harm.

The defendant has pleaded not guilty, and his defense maintains his innocence.
