15-year-old Kazakhstani signs contract with FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona’s academy has added a new player, 15-year-old Karim Mendikanov of Kazakhstan, who signed a contract with the club and is set to join the team next season, according to Spanish sports media outlet Mundo Deportivo.

Mendikanov moved to Spain in 2022. The young player began his career with Cerdanyola FC, where he attracted attention. This season, he plays for Sant Cugat FC, where he has quickly established himself as a key player.

The outlet also highlighted Mendikanov’s ability to beat defenders and skill in one-on-one situations, noting that he is one of the league’s top assist providers.

The young player’s vivid performance didn’t go unnoticed. Several La Liga clubs expressed interest in the young Kazakh player, but he chose FC Barcelona. According to Spanish media, the footballer has already been training with the team to adapt more quickly.

This summer, Mendikanov may become the first player from Kazakhstan to play for Barcelona. He hasn’t been summoned to the national team yet, but the player’s progress sparks interest both in Kazakhstan and Europe.

In the near future, Mendikanov will continue playing for Sant Cugat FC and is expected to take part in the prestigious Mediterranean International Cup.
