Several hours into the flight following the successful launch of the Artemis II mission to the Moon, astronauts faced minor but noticeable difficulties — their toilet malfunctioned during the long journey.
According to Space.com, the space toilet, designed for 10 days of flight, partially went out of service.
NASA said that the issue affected the urine collection. At the same time, the toilet still operated partially, allowing astronauts to use it for solid waste. Within several hours, the crew had to fix the device using instructions from the ground team.
Fortunately, the astronauts managed to resolve the issue.
The Artemis II mission was launched on April 1 from Cape Canaveral, Florida. The crew of four astronauts embarked on a roughly 10-day flight that includes looping the Moon, marking the first such mission since 1972.
