As four NASA astronauts are traveling to the Moon for the first time in 50 years, photographers in Kazakhstan are capturing striking images of how the Moon appears from Earth — a vivid and colorful spectacle.
A pink Moon over Almaty
Dmitry Dotsenko, a photographer based in Almaty, captured the April full Moon rising over Shymbulak Peak. This full Moon is commonly known as the «Pink Moon» or «Easter Moon.» The name, however, does not describe its actual color; the Moon’s hue depends on atmospheric conditions.
In this case, the Moon appears pinkish-orange, shaped by light scattering in the atmosphere.
Stunning images from eastern Kazakhstan
Additional photos taken in Oskemen (Ust-Kamenogorsk) showcase equally dramatic views.

The images highlight the Moon’s texture and color against the night sky, offering a breathtaking perspective from eastern Kazakhstan.
