Two «devils» of the fashion world, Anna Wintour and Meryl Streep, have come together on the cover of Vogue, the industry’s leading fashion magazine.

The pair reunited to promote «The Devil Wears Prada 2» in a conversation moderated by director Greta Gerwig. They discussed expectations around how women «should» look, as well as Streep’s return to the role of Miranda Priestly nearly 20 years after the original film.

Revisiting an iconic character

Wintour, the magazine’s former editor-in-chief, said being portrayed by Streep is a tremendous honor, regardless of one’s status.

Streep noted that, at the time of the first film, some fashion brands were hesitant to dress her character due to the widely drawn parallels between Miranda Priestly and Wintour.

A film that shaped perceptions of fashion

Despite early concerns, Wintour praised the original film for illustrating the scale and influence of the fashion industry to a global audience.

Comparing herself to Streep, the Condé Nast chief content officer said she would never want to trade places with the actress, noting that acting requires a level of talent she believes she does not possess.
