Japan-based vehicle maker Honda announced plans to launch its compact electric vehicle (EV), marketed as delivering an engine-powered car-like driving experience, the Honda Super-ONE, in late May 2026 in Japan, the company said in a release.

The carmaker also announced that pre-orders will start on April 16 across its dealerships in the country. The Honda Super-ONE is described as the lightest in its class in the Japanese market, weighing 1,090 kilograms, achieved through a dedicated chassis with a widened tread and a thin floor-mounted battery that concentrates heavy components and lowers the center of gravity. The declared battery range is 274 kilometers.

The exclusive feature of the car is «BOOST Mode,» which provides the feeling of driving a traditional gasoline car, according to the company. It increases the maximum power output from 47 kilowatts to 70 kilowatts and adds engine-simulation features such as a simulated 7-speed transmission and a sound system that synchronizes engine-like sound with pressure on the accelerator pedal, as well as a pseudo tachometer for immersion.

Previously, in January, Honda presented a prototype of its recreational vehicle — Base Station.
