Deputy Governor of the Aktobe region Abzal Abdikarimov met with a delegation from Shell Kazakhstan to discuss investment projects, further cooperation and the launch of geological exploration at the Zhanaturmys oil and gas block under a project implemented by the company as part of a contract with Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy signed on March 5, 2026.

The block covers the Mugalzhar and Alga districts of the Aktobe Region. The project includes seismic surveys, the collection of geological data and their technical assessment.

The Governor’s Office also presented current indicators of the region’s oil and gas sector. Currently, 244 subsoil users operate in the region. Based on the results of 2025 and early 2026, the authorities report an increase in production indicators.

The sides also discussed state support measures. Authorities are considering including the project in the pool of investment initiatives, as well as providing land and the necessary infrastructure.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue cooperation and carry out geological exploration work on schedule.
