South Korean low-cost carrier Eastar Jet has included Almaty in its advertising campaign. The city’s landmarks set to be displayed in Seoul. This way, the carrier is seeking to increase awareness of Almaty and motivate Korean tourists to choose the city as their destination.

«The advertisement was placed free of charge with the support of Eastar Jet and became part of a joint marketing strategy to promote Almaty’s tourism potential in the South Korean market,» the Almaty akimat, the city’s mayor’s office, said.

Since the beginning of May, the ads have been displayed at the Gimpo International Airport subway station in Seoul. The advertisement features Almaty’s Ascension Cathedral. Thousands of passengers on domestic and international routes pass through the station every day.

The city’s authorities added that South Korea has become one of Almaty’s priority international markets. In 2025, the city welcomed more than 23,200 travelers from the country.

Notably, Eastar Jet resumed non-stop flights between Almaty and Busan starting May 1. The fare from Almaty starts at roughly $212, and from Busan, it is $176.22.
