
The Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan `(SAMK) has launched an official website, qurban.muftyat.kz, allowing users to perform qurban, or ritual animal sacrifice, remotely.

Users can select an animal and pay for the service using Kaspi QR. After the ritual is completed, participants receive SMS confirmation, along with photo and video reports.
For Muslims in Kazakhstan and around the world, Eid al-Adha is one of the holiest days in Islam. Known as the «Festival of Sacrifice,» it commemorates the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim to God. In Kazakhstan, the holiday is known as Qurban Ait. In 2026, Eid al-Adha will fall on Wednesday, May 27.
Prices vary by type of animal
According to information published on the website, sacrificing a ram costs 125,000 tenge (about $265), while cattle sacrifice costs 875,000 tenge (about $1,800).
The cattle sacrifice may be paid in full by one person or divided among seven participants.
Shared sacrifice permitted under Islamic tradition
Under Islamic tradition, a cow or camel may be sacrificed collectively. Each participant contributes a share of the cost and receives a corresponding portion of the meat and sawab, or spiritual reward.

If a group has fewer than seven participants, the SAMK covers the remaining share with a sheep to ensure the ritual complies with Shariah requirements. The service is also available through the website.
