
Spain’s national team manager Luis de la Fuente announced the squad for the 2026 World Cup, which is set to take place in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
The squad includes 26 footballers. Notably, no Real Madrid players feature. The majority of players are from FC Barcelona, with eight Catalan club players receiving a call-up for the tournament.
- Goalkeepers: Unai Simón (Athletic Club), David Raya (Arsenal), and Joan Garcia (Barcelona).
- Defenders: Pedro Porro (Tottenham), Marcos Llorente (Atlético Madrid), Aymeric Laporte (Athletic Club), Pau Cubarsí (Barcelona), Marc Pubill (Atlético Madrid), Eric García (Barcelona), Marc Cucurella (Chelsea), and Alejandro Grimaldo (Bayer Leverkusen).
- Midfielders: Rodri (Manchester City), Martín Zubimendi (Arsenal), Pedri (Barcelona), Fabián Ruiz (PSG), Mikel Merino (Arsenal), Gavi (Barcelona), and Álex Baena (Atlético Madrid).
- Forwards: Mikel Oyarzabal (Real Sociedad), Lamine Yamal (Barcelona), Ferran Torres (Barcelona), Borja Iglesias (Celta Vigo), Dani Olmo (Barcelona), Víctor Muñoz (Osasuna), Nico Williams (Athletic Club), and Yéremy Pino (Crystal Palace).
Spain will begin its World Cup preparations on May 30 at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas. Ahead of the World Cup, the team will play two friendly matches against Iraq on June 4 and Peru on June 8.
At the World Cup, Spain will start on July 15 with a match against Cape Verde in Atlanta. In addition, the current European champions will face Saudi Arabia and Uruguay in the group stage.
