Kazakhstan’s Yulia Putintseva was eliminated in the second round of the French Open after a hard-fought loss to Colombia’s Camila Osorio 7-5, 6-7(6-8), 6-4.
The match marked the first career meeting between the 31-year-old Putintseva and the 24-year-old Osorio. Both players are considered strong clay-court specialists.
Osorio has won all three of her WTA 250 titles on clay in Bogotá, claiming trophies in 2021, 2024 and 2025. Putintseva, meanwhile, has captured two of her three career titles on clay — in Nuremberg in 2019 and Budapest in 2021 — with her only non-clay title coming on grass in Birmingham in 2024.
Tight battle on clay
For much of the match, neither player was able to establish clear control. Putintseva relied on variety and tactical play, while Osorio proved slightly more consistent from the baseline.
After trading breaks early in the opening set, both players held serve until 5-5. Putintseva missed two set-point opportunities on Osorio’s serve before being broken herself. Osorio eventually closed out the set 7-5.
The second set was equally competitive. Serving at 4-5, Putintseva saved three match points to stay alive. In the tiebreak, she fought off another match point before converting her first set point to win 8-6 and force a deciding set.
Osorio regained control in the third set, however, using her superior stamina to secure the victory after 2 hours, 40 minutes.
Danilina advances in mixed doubles
Earlier in the day, Kazakhstan’s Anna Danilina and Serbia’s Aleksandra Krunić advanced in women’s doubles.

Danilina later returned to the court for mixed doubles, partnering with American James Tracy. The pair defeated Australia’s Storm Hunter and Monaco’s Hugo Nys 6-4, 7-5 in 1 hour, 14 minutes.
