More than a thousand people dressed as Marilyn Monroe gathered in Palm Springs, California, setting a new world record.
The unusual event, organized to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the actress’s birth, took place in Downtown Park near the famous eight-meter-tall statue of the Hollywood star.
According to the organizers, 1,037 people dressed as Monroe gathered at the venue. This became the largest gathering of Marilyn Monroe lookalikes in history, surpassing the previous record of 254 participants. The figures have already been submitted for official registration in the Guinness World Records.

Marilyn Monroe is considered one of the most important Hollywood icons of the 20th century. She rose to fame thanks to the films «Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,» «The Seven Year Itch» and «Some Like It Hot.»
The actress died in August 1962 at the age of 36 of a barbiturate overdose, but even decades later, she remains one of the most recognizable figures in global pop culture.
On Marilyn Monroe’s 100th birthday, Julien’s Auctions offered several unusual items related to the actress, including medical images of the Hollywood star. A chest X-ray taken in 1954 attracted the most attention. The lot description states that the image reveals Monroe’s spine, ribs and the contours of her breasts.
