The robotic units are expected to help maintain security in public spaces, monitor situations in real time and assist in crime prevention efforts. Equipped with video surveillance cameras, they transmit live data directly to the command center.

The robots can also detect suspicious objects, identify smoke and fire hazards, and automatically alert emergency services.

Future operational roles

Police officials say the technology could eventually be used in special and counterterrorism operations. As the systems continue to be developed, the robotic platforms are expected to be capable of inspecting hazardous objects and transporting potentially dangerous materials without putting personnel at risk.

“The implementation of such technologies is aimed at increasing the effectiveness of security systems and enabling a rapid response to threats,” Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

Expanding deployment

Robotic systems have previously been used in Astana and Almaty. Their deployment in Aktau marks the latest expansion of the technology’s use by law enforcement agencies in Kazakhstan.
