In the Zhetysu district in Almaty, a road collision occurred during the detention of a suspect. A driver passing by got distracted by the proceedings and rammed the taxi, the city’s Police Department reported.
During the patrol, a Kia pulled up to the police crew, and a foreign-national driver got out and asked for help.
The taxi driver claimed that a passenger in the back seat, while threatening him with a pistol, demanded to be driven to a settlement outside the city. Police officers blocked the hatchback and detained the suspect.
During the inspection, a toy pistol that closely resembled a real one was confiscated from him. A pretrial investigation was launched into the case.
However, this was not the end of the taxi driver’s misadventures. While police officers were carrying out the arrest and taking his statement, a collision occurred. The video shows the driver becoming distracted by the unfolding events and crashing into the taxi driver’s Kia.
Police reminded that it’s essential to stay alert on the road and strictly follow the traffic rules regardless of the situation.
