Despite her failure in Paris, Kazakhstan’s top-ranked tennis player Elena Rybakina improved her position in the WTA doubles rankings by seven places. She also retained her second-place standing in the singles rankings ahead of the grass-court Queen’s Club Championships in London.
Simultaneous losses by top-10 players, with the exception of Mirra Andreeva, resulted in no changes to the top three: Aryna Sabalenka, Rybakina and Iga Świątek retained their positions. The Russian Roland Garros champion climbed two places to sixth.
The most notable decline in the top 10 was Coco Gauff, who fell three places to seventh. Separately, Poland’s Maja Chwalińska, the 2026 French Open runner-up, made a huge leap from 114th to 21st.
Rybakina is seeded first at the WTA 500 HSBC Championships, participation in which was not initially planned. Rybakina entered the tournament after Czechia’s Linda Nosková withdrew.
Anna Danilina will also represent Kazakhstan at the tournament in doubles, partnering Serbia’s Aleksandra Krunić.
Among the standout appearances is 44-year-old Serena Williams, who is partnering 19-year-old Canadian Victoria Mboko.
The total prize pool for the WTA 500 HSBC Championships is $1.9 million.
Meanwhile, Alexander Bublik, who lost in the first round of the French Open to Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff, dropped from 10th to 11th in the rankings, allowing Italy’s Flavio Cobolli, the tournament runner-up, to move ahead of him.
Roland Garros champion Germany’s Alexander Zverev remained third. Carlos Alcaraz, who skipped the French Open and is also skipping Wimbledon due to injury, stands second, while Jannik Sinner, who was upset in the second round, remains first in the rankings.
Bublik is taking part in the 2026 ATP 250 BOSS Open, where he is seeded third and received a first-round bye. He is also competing in doubles, partnering Australia’s Nick Kyrgios (World No. 1310). Previously, the Kazakhstani tennis player withdrew from the Roland Garros doubles competition due to injury.
