A team of divers, together with the administration of Kolsai Lakes National Park, carried out a clean-up operation at the lake. Over two days, they made more than 20 dives despite rain, hail, and harsh mountain weather. Water temperatures ranged between 7°C and 9°C.

They retrieved over 150 kilograms of waste from the bottom of Lake Kolsai, most of which consisted of plastic and glass bottles, tin cans, wet wipes and boat debris.

Nevertheless, organizers said that little new waste was found, suggesting that tourists are gradually becoming more environmentally conscious and more careful about cleaning up after themselves.

Moreover, out of curiosity, the divers measured how long it would take a person in full gear to swim across Lake Kolsai — a surprising 18 minutes.

Social media users praised the initiative by the national park administration and divers.

«Well done, guys! Big respect,»

«I want to join you,»

«A very interesting and noble initiative,» they wrote in the comments section.
