Inkuzart, a Tashkent-based street artist often referred to as the «Uzbek Banksy,» has unveiled a new work that transforms drug advertising into a social statement. The performance was dedicated to the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, observed on June 26.
As a real artist, Inkuzart deliberately chose a wall covered in graffiti advertising a Telegram channel selling illegal drugs and turned it into a work of art. Like in many other CIS countries, drug dealers in Uzbekistan use such illegal graffiti to reach potential customers.
However, instead of simply painting over the advertisement, Inkuzart incorporated it into his new work. The mural depicts a child covering up the drug graffiti and writing a simple message: «Choose life.»
