Kazakhstan’s QALAM project teams up with Ibn Khaldun University on Turkic history

Kazakhstan’s QALAM project, dedicated to the history and culture of Kazakhstan, Central Asia and the Turkic world, has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Ibn Khaldun University in Istanbul. Under the agreement, the two sides will pursue joint research, educational and cultural initiatives.

The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the 3rd Turkic World Summer Forum «The Future of the Turkic World» held at Ibn Khaldun University in Istanbul, with the support of the Organization of Turkic States.

The memorandum was signed by Yaşar Sari, director of the Heydar Aliyev Center for Eurasian Studies at Ibn Khaldun University; Zhar Zardykhan, editor-in-chief of QALAM; and Büşra Buluş, head of the International Office at Ibn Khaldun University.

Through this partnership, QALAM will collaborate on research with Turkish scholars, expand its network of international experts, and develop new educational initiatives focused on the history of Kazakhstan, Central Asia and the Turkic world.

Ibn Khaldun University was founded in 2015 with the support of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who also attended the opening of the university’s campus. The university positions itself as an international research hub specializing in the social sciences and humanities.

During the forum, Zardykhan addressed participants, discussing the project’s mission, its growing audience and the role of historical content in strengthening ties among countries across the Turkic world.

As part of the forum’s special program, the QALAM delegation also visited the headquarters of the Organization of Turkic States, where they met with the organization’s Secretary General, Kubanychbek Omuraliev.

QALAM is a Kazakhstani educational media project dedicated to the history and culture of Kazakhstan, Central Asia and the Turkic world. The project brings together historians and researchers from various countries and publishes content in Kazakh, Russian and English.
