Actor Tom Holland and historian Tom Holland finally met during a special episode of «The Rest Is History» podcast, where they discussed Christopher Nolan’s «The Odyssey» and the long-running confusion caused by sharing the same name.
The episode opened with light-hearted jokes, including a recreation of the famous Spider-Man pointing meme. After the historian introduced his guest as «the real Tom Holland,» the actor quickly replied with a smile, «Not the real Tom Holland. The other Tom Holland.»
The conversation also touched on the challenges of having identical names. The historian joked that if he were a person who regularly Googled himself, the actor would have «destroyed» his ability to do so, prompting the movie star to respond, «I’m sorry, Tom.» His co-host laughed it off, adding, «Well, I don’t Google myself, so it’s absolutely fine.»

The meeting came shortly after both attended the London premiere of «The Odyssey» without crossing paths. Days later, the historian praised the film on X, leading some users to mistakenly believe the post came from the actor. One commenter wrote, «Bro, you’re in it,» while another joked that a meeting between the two «may implode» the universe.
During the podcast, the pair discussed Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s epic. Holland, who plays Telemachus, said adapting the story into a single film was a major challenge, praising the director’s ability to capture its «heart and soul.»
