Kazakhstan recorded its highest number of newly registered legal entities in nearly three years. In June alone, the justice authorities registered around 4,500 new companies, the highest monthly figure since November 2022, according to the Data Hub Telegram channel.

Compared with May 2026, the number of newly registered entities increased by 31%, while the year-on-year increase reached 44%, according to calculations based on data from Kazakhstan’s Bureau of National Statistics.

Companies with foreign ownership were behind much of the growth. Their number rose by 49% month-on-month and by 320% compared with June last year, reaching a record high. Of all legal entities registered in June, only 16, or 0.4%, were wholly state-owned.

The majority of newly registered companies were privately owned, with around 2,500 legal entities, or 55.7% of total registrations, while around 1,960 entities, or 44%, had foreign ownership.

The most notable business activity was recorded in Almaty, where around 2,400 new legal entities were registered, accounting for more than half of all registrations nationwide in June. Around 1,700 of those entities were established with foreign capital.

Astana followed with 777 new entities registered during the month, accounting for around 17% of the total.

Almost all newly registered legal entities belonged to the small business category, with 4,400 classified as small enterprises.
