Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on the sidelines of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai.

Hun Manet expressed Phnom Penh’s interest in strengthening ties with Kazakhstan and invited Tokayev to visit Cambodia at his convenience.

In response, Tokayev said Kazakhstan is ready to increase direct exports of grain, mineral fertilizers and other agricultural products to Cambodia. He also identified logistics, the textile and food industries, construction, and tourism as promising areas for bilateral cooperation.

Tokayev also offered to share Kazakhstan’s GovTech expertise with Cambodia, noting that the country ranks among the top 24 in the UN E-Government Development Index.

The two leaders also discussed cooperation within international organizations. Tokayev thanked Cambodia for its support for the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) and informed Hun Manet of Kazakhstan’s initiative to establish an International Water Organization under the auspices of the UN.

Hun Manet, in turn, said the Cambodian government and business community are ready to support the implementation of joint projects with Astana.
