Nine industry-specific and 20 regional atlases of emerging professions have been compiled in Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, minister of science and higher education, said at a recent government meeting.
The updated industry atlases for mechanical engineering and logistics, along with those for the Kostanay and Karaganda regions, for the first time cover the full technological cycle — from the initial design of components to the expanding network of electric vehicle charging stations.

The transformation is expected to create 31 entirely new professions in manufacturing, while another 22 existing specialties will undergo significant changes to adapt to automation.
Universities across Kazakhstan are already restructuring their academic programs to reflect the changing labor market. Students will receive training in reverse engineering, industrial robotics, digital engineering algorithms, smart manufacturing systems and modern engineering design.
The reform is based on an analysis of real-world industry needs. The ministry surveyed 73,000 enterprises across the country, including 92 specialized automotive companies.
Earlier, Nurbek said a comprehensive labor market forecast showed that Kazakhstan’s domestic automotive industry will need 10,201 specialists — including engineers and skilled workers — over the next three years.
