WhatsApp has expanded the functionality of its web version. Users can now make audio and video calls directly from a browser without installing a separate desktop app. Kursiv LifeStyle takes a look at the changes.
Both private and group calls are now available in the web version. According to the developers, all conversations are protected by end-to-end encryption.
In addition, users can switch between smartphones, tablets, PCs and WhatsApp Web without interrupting the call. For example, a call can start on a phone and then continue on a laptop.
The web version has also received most of the features available in the mobile app, including screen sharing, reactions during calls and a list of favorite contacts.
The update also introduces several new features: a waiting room for group calls, where the organizer can approve participants’ requests to join, noise reduction and faster activation of HD video. WhatsApp said the new features will become available to users gradually.
Previously, Kursiv LifeStyle reported that an option to hide phone numbers and use unique usernames, as on Telegram and Instagram, was coming to WhatsApp.
