Region’s first FIA drifting cup
The FIA Central Asia Drifting Cup sporting regulations have already been approved by the FIA World Motor Sport Council. This will be the first official regional drifting cup in Central Asia held under the authority of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).
«It is a great honor for the Sokol sports and tourism complex to host a tournament of this scale. We understand the full responsibility and will do everything necessary to ensure proper tournament organization and comfortable conditions for drivers, teams and spectators,» Rakhimzhan Talipov, director of the complex, said.
Entries open
Entries for drivers are already open and will close on Sept. 1. The organizers have not imposed a limit on the number of competitors.
The tournament program includes practice sessions, qualifying and tandem battles in an elimination format. During qualifying, judges will assess the drivers’ line, drift angle, speed and style. After that, the best drivers will compete in tandem battles, with each participant taking turns as the lead and chase driver. The winners in the individual and team standings will be determined based on the final results.
The schedule, ticket prices and participant list will be announced later.
