From Silicon Valley to Central Asia: Tesla to power Kazakhstan’s infrastructure?

A delegation from Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy recently visited the U.S., where Vice Minister Sungat Yessimkhanov held talks with U.S.-based companies Tesla and Peak Energy.
During the visit, Kazakh officials toured Tesla production facilities and expressed interest in the company’s energy storage systems. Discussions focused on the potential for joint projects and the supply of Tesla equipment to Kazakhstan.
«The delegation from Kazakhstan reviewed the production process for energy storage equipment and held talks on the potential supply of such systems for domestic use, as well as opportunities for joint projects,» the ministry said in a statement.
The delegation also met with representatives of Peak Energy, a company specializing in renewable power, grid stability and long-duration energy storage solutions. Talks centered on potential applications of Peak Energy’s technology in Kazakhstan’s energy infrastructure.
Kazakhstan and the U.S. maintain strong and expanding trade ties. Despite President Donald Trump’s tariff hikes on Kazakh goods, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Trade said it would not impose retaliatory measures.
Kazakhstan exports crude oil, uranium, silver, ferroalloys and other commodities to the U.S. American multinational companies remain active in Kazakhstan’s oil and gas sector, continuing to make significant investments in the country’s economy.
