Kaznet users are actively discussing a video released by Kazakhstan’s Interior Ministry showing what authorities described as a «drug lab» discovered in a residential building in Almaty. The footage was published after police conducted a door-to-door raid in one of the city’s districts.
What police reported
According to police, officers found marijuana plants inside an apartment. Authorities said they opened a criminal case, launched an investigation and pledged to continue what they described as a tough fight against drug trafficking.
Social media reacts with irony
The response on social media, however, was not what the agency appeared to expect. Many users reacted with sarcasm, mocking both the scale of the discovery and the dramatic tone of the video.
Commenters pointed out that, amid rising concerns about synthetic drugs, street crime and serious offenses, the police focus on what they described as «three bushes» seemed misplaced. Several users said the video was more likely to become material for jokes than to inspire confidence in law enforcement.
Quotes fuel criticism
«Judging by the music, they caught Escobar, Thanos and Woland all at once,» one commenter wrote. Others added:
«It would be better if they caught the mephedrone addicts,» «So many people and so much fuss for three pots,» and «Why such patriotic music?»
Another comment summed up the criticism:
«Three bushes, a drug lab — like they found a ton. Mephedrone is all over the city by the ton, and no one cares.»
