Rattikarn Amloy, a 16-year-old Thai musician better known as Nene Royal, has won the 21st season of «America’s Got Talent,» becoming the first contestant from Thailand to take the top prize, the BBC reported.
Competing against nine other finalists in California, Nene performed «Seven Nation Army» by The White Stripes, winning over the judges and audience and securing the $1 million prize.
The young musician drew widespread attention after her audition performance of «Zombie» by The Cranberries went viral, garnering tens of millions of views.
Nene has played guitar since age seven, honing her skills by performing publicly in her hometown of Phuket, including at the popular Naka Weekend Market.
Following her victory, the teenager received congratulations from Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, her school and even Phuket’s Naka Weekend Market.
Her talent also caught the attention of prominent American rock band Avenged Sevenfold, which invited her to open its show in Singapore on Oct. 13.
