Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said effective engagement with investors requires cooperation among government agencies through a single coordination and decision-making center.
New appointments to oversee investment work
Presidential aide Murat Nurtleu has been appointed coordinator for work with foreign investors, while presidential adviser Asset Irgaliyev will oversee engagement with international financial institutions.
«I have appointed a special assistant who will handle investment matters. Foreign and domestic investors can contact Murat Nurtleu, as the focal point, with any questions they may have. Regarding international financial institutions, Asset Irgaliyev, chairman of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms and adviser to the president, will be responsible for ongoing communication with them,» Tokayev said during an extended government meeting today.
Foreign investment trends and challenges
The president also noted that foreign direct investment has exceeded $84 billion since 2022, though the pace of inflows remains insufficient. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive strategy to attract new, high-quality investment capable of creating modern, high-tech industries.
Priority sectors for development
According to Tokayev, Kazakhstan offers several attractive investment areas, including rare earth metals, petrochemicals, digital infrastructure, renewable energy, transportation and agricultural processing. Investors from Western and other developed countries are showing strong interest in implementing such projects in Kazakhstan.
