Plenitude Kazakhstan, a subsidiary of Italy’s Eni, has secured the right to build a 100-megawatt (MW) wind farm in the Aktobe region. The project is expected to be completed by 2028, the regional administration said.

Askhat Shakharov, governor of the Aktobe region, held talks with Plenitude Kazakhstan CEO Federico Pugliese. They discussed renewable energy projects and strengthening investment cooperation.

In May 2026, Plenitude Kazakhstan won an auction to build a 100-MW wind farm, which is expected to produce 400 gigawatt-hours annually upon commissioning. The project implementation is planned for 2026-2028.

At the meeting, the governor noted that the company has already implemented the 48-MW wind farm project in the village of Badamsha.

«This project is of particular importance to the Aktobe region as a successful example of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Italy in green energy. Its implementation aligns with strategic objectives to develop renewable energy sources, adopt modern technologies and ensure sustainable economic growth,» Shakharov said.

Plenitude Kazakhstan focuses on developing renewable energy sources in Kazakhstan. The company is part of the Eni group — one of Italy’s largest oil producers. Eni is also among the largest stakeholders in the Karachaganak and Kashagan projects. The company also actively implements renewable energy projects.

KazMunayGas and Eni are building a 247-MW hybrid power plant in the Mangystau region. Construction is scheduled for completion in 2026.
