The Silk Road Electronics plant in Saran, Karaganda region, plans to expand its operations and begin manufacturing ultrasound diagnostic systems. The facility currently produces Samsung home appliances, including televisions and washing machines.

The project’s partner is South Korean company Samsung Medison, which specializes in medical ultrasound systems. Its equipment is used in radiology, cardiology, obstetrics and gynecology.

Production of the ultrasound systems will be introduced in stages. The plant plans to install the necessary equipment, establish production processes and gradually increase the share of manufacturing operations performed in Kazakhstan.

Who owns Silk Road Electronics?

According to Adata, Silk Road Electronics has four founders:

  • Saryarka Social-Entrepreneurial Corporation (SEC), which operates under the Karaganda region’s Department of Entrepreneurship and Industry.
  • Uzbekistan-based home appliance manufacturer Artel Engineering and Management;
  • Meridian Company.
  • White Goods Management Ltd., a private company.

As Kursiv.media previously reported, White Goods Management became a co-owner of Silk Road Electronics in early 2025. According to the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), the company is owned by Ahmet Faruk, with Farkhod Ashirmatov serving as its director.

In 2023, Silk Road Electronics received state support through a 5 billion tenge targeted transfer from Kazakhstan’s National Fund to increase the authorized capital of SEC Saryarka.
