For the first time a project from Kazakhstan won the Digital Oscar within the framework of the internal competition of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). A digital Islamic financial service Tayyab became the first holder of an Islamic finance award and was recognized as an outstanding digital project in Central Asia.

The award ceremony took place on Tuesday, May 16, in Samarkand (Uzbekistan), where the 32nd annual meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) was held. The awards were presented to the winners of the competition by Odile Renaud-Basso, the President of the EBRD.

It should be noted that Tayyab’s victory in the nomination “Outstanding Digital Project in Central Asia” is an unprecedented case, this is the first such victory not only for tayyab but also for digital projects from Kazakhstan in general.

The nomination “Outstanding Digital Project in Central Asia” is a special award of the competition aimed at recognizing projects that expand communication opportunities in the Central Asian region and the region with the rest of the world.

The advantages of tayyab, as noted by the selection committee, lie in its ambition, rapid growth, the power of the digital component, and its relevance to the Central Asian region.

The competition has been running since 2021, with its main goal being to support and encourage successful digitalization projects implemented by the bank’s clients with the support of the EBRD.

The first fintech tayyab is a member of the first cohort of startups of the EBRD’s Star Venture program in Kazakhstan. The program aims to support innovative startups with high growth potential in the EBRD’s countries of operation.

In Kazakhstan, the program was launched in 2022 with the support of the Government of Kazakhstan. Today, seven startups participate in it, receiving free diagnostics, mentoring, and consulting support, as well as assistance in entering new markets and attracting investments.
