Kazakhstani citizens have been evacuated from Gaza to Egypt

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, 92 Kazakhstani citizens and members of their families have moved from Gaza to Egypt.

What happened? Today, on November 15, 92 Kazakhstani citizens and members of their families have crossed the Rafah border crossing and moved from Gaza to Egypt.

«After passing through necessary procedures, a column with our citizens hit the road toward the city of Cairo and will arrive there very soon,» the ministry said in a statement.

How long will Kazakhstanis stay in Egypt? The evacuation of Kazakhstanis from Gaza is divided into several stages. Once all Kazakhstanis are safely brought from Gaza to Cairo, the government of Kazakhstan will airlift them to Kazakhstan.

As the Foreign Ministry noted, Kazakhstani diplomats are staying in touch with authorized agencies in Israel, Egypt, the Palestinian National Authority and different international organizations in order to evacuate each Kazakhstani from the enclave.

The context. So far, there are 122 Kazakhstanis and their relatives on the list of those who will be allowed to go through the Rafah border crossing.

Earlier this month, Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu asked Egypt to open the Rafah border crossing to those Kazakhstanis who want to leave the Gaza Strip. He also discussed this issue with his Israeli counterpart Eli Cohen.

During the November 12 summit of the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Kazakhstan supported the idea of creating a Palestinian state within the borders of 1967 and a capital city in West Jerusalem. Participants of the summit have described Gaza as an integral part of the Palestinian territories on the West Bank of the Jordan River and condemned Israel for the bloody conflict.
