Korean low-cost and cargo airlines to start flying to Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan and South Korea are planning to boost the number of flights between each other and launch several new ones. According to the Civil Aviation Committee of Kazakhstan (CAC), Vice Minister of Transport Talgat Lastayev has started negotiations with T’Way, a South Korean low-cost airline.

As the CAC noted, the two sides want to boost the number of flights for two destinations: Astana – Seoul and Almaty – Seoul. Moreover, new flights from Shymkent to the capital city of South Korea and from Busan to several Kazakhstani cities will emerge. This information was revealed after a meeting of Lastayev with the deputy head of the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

«Lastayev also met with executives of T’way, a low-cost airline and Sirius Airlines, a cargo carrier. Both Korean companies expressed their intention to launch flights to Kazakhstan,» the agency said in a statement.

T’way Air is a South Korean low-cost airline established in August 2010 with just two aircraft Boeing 737-800. In 2018, the company ran 19 Boeing B737-800 with a capacity of 186 and 189 seats. All aircraft meet the requirements for Economy-grade planes. Also, the company has eight contracted aircraft Boeing B737 MAX 8.

T’way serves internal routes and carries international flights to China, Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand, Russia, Guam, Laos, the Northern Mariana Islands and the Philippines.

In January, Kazakhstan planned to launch new flights to Italy from Astana to Rome and Astana to Milan.
