The Federal Foreign Office of Germany has introduced a new process for applying for visas online, as reported by Deutsche Welle.
From now on, applications for work, student, job seeker and family reunion visas to Germany can now be submitted online worldwide through a newly launched online portal. In Kazakhstan, the new visa application method is expected to become available in the first quarter of this year.
As of today, 167 German visa offices across the globe are connected to this portal, including the German diplomatic mission in Kazakhstan. However, the system has yet to be fully deployed, as some work is still underway.
«The technical connection includes restructuring the workflow for the new online system. For instance, this implies the elimination of the existing waiting lists. Those already registered in those lists will be prioritized for appointments,» the agency said in a statement.
Previously, visiting a visa office in person by appointment was the only way to obtain a German visa.
