U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the announced UFC event on White House grounds will take place on June 14.
«And on June 14, next year, we’re going to have a big UFC fight at the White House, right at the White House on the grounds,» The Hill cited Trump as saying.
Initially, the event was planned to be held on the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence — on July 4, 2026. As of now, the event is scheduled to mark Trump’s 80th birthday.
According to The Hill, the UFC Octagon will be installed on the White House South Lawn, with the event featuring fireworks and light shows. The fighter weigh-ins are to be carried out at the Lincoln Memorial.
UFC CEO Dana White said that the White House grounds event would not be limited to a single bout, but rather would be a full-fledged tournament with several fights.
“Then in February, we’ll start looking at building the White House card, which I will right now tell you will be the greatest fight card ever assembled in the history of, at least, definitely this company,” Fox News cited White as saying.
Many of the promotion’s fighters almost immediately expressed their desire to become part of the historic tournament. Former UFC champions Jon Jones and Conor McGregor even resumed their careers for the event. Notably, the Irish martial artist previously said that he had already signed a contract for a bout at the White House.
