American actor Kevin Spacey, 66, once one of Hollywood’s most influential figures, told The Telegraph that after years of legal battles and financial strain linked to sexual assault allegations, he now has no permanent home and is struggling financially. Despite being acquitted in a major U.K. trial in 2023, his life has not returned to normal.
The Oscar winner said that his belongings are in storage, while he moves between hotels and rented apartments.
«I’m living in hotels, I’m living in Airbnbs, I’m going where the work is. I literally have no home, that’s what I’m attempting to explain,» Spacey emphasized.
The «House of Cards» star’s financial situation is far from stable; he admitted that bankruptcy had even been discussed.
Spacey compared his situation to the fate of actors and screenwriters who were blacklisted in Hollywood in the 1950s for alleged sympathy to communism. According to him, «a lot of people were not guilty of what they were accused of.»
The actor believes that one notable opportunity could be enough to restart his career — a major director who believes in him and invites him to a new project.
«So, my feeling is if Martin Scorsese or Quentin Tarantino call Evan [Lowenstein, Spacey’s manager] tomorrow, it will be over. I will be incredibly honored and delighted when that level of talent picks up the phone,» Spacey told The Telegraph.
For now, Spacey continues to perform his show “Songs & Stories,” where he combines music and reflections on his career.
