It seems Apple could possibly enter the segment of genuinely affordable personal computers. According to MyDrivers, the company plans to launch a new desktop model Mac Neo, which could be priced at around $299.

The device is effectively expected to be a simplified Mac mini, equipped with the A19 Pro chip, which is also anticipated to power the next generation of MacBook Neo. The standard configuration may have 12 gigabytes of RAM, which should be enough for routine tasks and work.

To reduce the price, Apple could get rid of conventional aluminum and turn to plastic for the housing. Reportedly, devices will be available in different colors like the iMac and MacBook lines.

Mac Neo’s design will be close to Apple TV — a tight, small housing with two USB-C ports supporting 10 gigabits per second.

If confirmed, the device will be one of the most affordable Apple personal computers. For reference, the standard Mac mini starts at $599.
