British-Albanian singer Dua Lipa has filed a $15 million claim against Samsung over the unauthorized use of her image on the company’s TV packaging boxes. The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, Euronews reported.
The singer’s legal team claims Samsung placed a large photo of Lipa on boxes for several TV models distributed nationwide. The lawyers say the box design was intended to promote the company’s products by linking them to the artist’s achievements.
According to the filing, the photo was taken during her performance at the Austin City Limits Music Festival in 2024. The legal team claims that Lipa owns the image rights.

The lawsuit comprises several claims, including copyright infringement, misappropriation of Lipa’s likeness and image and trademark infringement. Allegedly, the artist learned about the boxes in the summer of 2025 when photos of them began massively spreading across social media, captioned «Dua Lipa TV Box.»
Customers’ posts were also added to the filing. Several users wrote directly that they bought TV sets only because of the box featuring the singer. Another individual said he didn’t plan to buy a new TV, but ultimately bought one because of the package.
Lipa’s legal team says that they inquired to Samsung several times to stop using the image; however, allegedly, the company didn’t respond.
