Some professions will remain in demand despite the rapid advance of AI, Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Labor and Social Protection Yerbol Tuyakbayev told journalists at a Senate briefing yesterday.
According to Tuyakbayev, technical and skilled-trades jobs continue to be «timeless» professions in the country.
«Certainly, it is very difficult to find a qualified dentist, a good electrician, a flooring installer or an engineer. There is still strong demand for these professions,» Tuyakbayev said.
Government campaign to boost blue-collar jobs
The vice minister also recalled that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev declared 2025 the Year of Working Professions. He said the ministry is continuing to implement the initiative, which is aimed at raising the prestige of blue-collar and skilled-trades jobs.
«If a person is qualified, knows their job completely and can contribute to a company’s development, they will be paid accordingly. It is a matter of competence,» he said.
AI could reshape the labor market
Kursiv.media previously reported that rapid advances in artificial intelligence could make some university-trained professions obsolete in Kazakhstan.
