Aigul Yerzhanova, a 55-year-old teacher from Astana, set a world record by pulling a 13.5-ton bus. The event took place at Bus Depot No. 1 in the presence of journalists, company employees and representatives of the International Records Organization.

Yerzhanova works as an elementary school teacher in Astana. Despite her age, she remains passionate about powerlifting and has repeatedly drawn attention for her athletic achievements.

During the attempt, she single-handedly moved a city bus and pulled it more than 10 meters. Representatives of Global Best of Records (GBR) later confirmed the final distance as 14 meters. The feat took just one minute.

Before the attempt, specialists inspected the bus and the area to ensure no outside assistance was involved. Following the successful record, Yerzhanova received a gold medal from the GBR organization.

Afterward, she said the idea came from her coach, Aybar, and his friend Yerzhan. She also explained that she wanted to inspire school graduates and encourage them to believe in themselves.

«I wanted to support students graduating from school now so they could confidently pursue their goals. If a person follows a dream, it will definitely come true,» Yerzhanova said.

This was not the teacher’s first record-setting achievement. Last year, she pulled two pickup trucks with a combined weight of 8 tons over a distance of 57 meters.

Earlier this year, Yerzhanova won two gold medals at the World Powerlifting Championships in Egypt.
