The incident occurred on the afternoon of May 30 at an unequipped section of shoreline where swimming is not permitted.

Preliminary findings indicate that one of the students entered the water and began to struggle. The second student attempted to rescue his friend, but neither was able to make it back to shore.

Rescue divers later recovered both bodies from the reservoir.

«Rescue divers located the students’ bodies approximately 15 meters from shore at a depth of 5 meters,» emergency officials said. «The bottom of the reservoir in this area is uneven, with sudden changes in depth.»

Authorities issue water safety warning

Emergency officials reminded residents that swimming in prohibited areas poses a serious risk to life and health.

They also stressed that the safety of a body of water cannot be judged by its appearance alone and noted that warning signs are installed in areas identified as potentially dangerous.
