Legendary American actor and director Clint Eastwood has retired from the film industry at the age of 96, according to his son Kyle Eastwood, who said that his father no longer plans to direct films and has officially retired.
«Now he’s retired, he’s 95 years old. But I’ve been very lucky to be able to work with him on a lot of films,» Kyle said, adding that he has many fond memories of working with his father.
Clint Eastwood turned 96 on May 31. Despite his age, he remained one of Hollywood’s most active directors and continued to release new films.
His final film, «Juror No. 2,» was released in 2024 and received positive reviews from both critics and audiences.
During his career, Eastwood directed dozens of films and became one of the most influential directors of our time. His most famous works include «Unforgiven,» «The Bridges of Madison County,» «Million Dollar Baby» and «Gran Torino.»
Eastwood gained international fame in the 1960s thanks to Italian director Sergio Leone, who directed the «Dollars Trilogy,» which included «A Fistful of Dollars,» «For a Few Dollars More» and «The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.»
The acclaimed director has won four Oscars, two for «Unforgiven» and two for the drama «Million Dollar Baby.»
Last year, Clint Eastwood criticized Hollywood for its «era of remakes and franchises,» calling on the American film industry to make more original films.
