Eleonora Berg, an Almaty resident known on social media as Lelya Berg, has publicly accused her father of sexually abusing her during childhood and says she is seeking to have the case reexamined by law enforcement authorities.
According to Berg, the abuse took place between the ages of 6 and 9.
The allegations have drawn renewed public attention after Berg published a video of a conversation with her father. In the recording, she attempts to explain the lasting impact the alleged abuse has had on her life and mental health. Her father denies the accusations and says he does not understand what she is referring to.
In the video, Berg confronts her father about her childhood experiences and says she intends to pursue legal accountability. Her father responds by asking whether she wants him to go to prison.
Years of silence
The blogger noted that she remained silent about the alleged abuse for many years because she was afraid.
«He threatened to kill everyone who found out about it. And then he’d do something to himself. As a child, I believed him,» she said. «I was terrified, so I stayed quiet. Now I’m 23, and I can’t live with this anymore. It’s very difficult for me.»
She had previously shared her account in a video message posted on social media, where she described the alleged abuse in detail.
«The night it started, I saw him watching adult content,» she said. «He saw I wasn’t sleeping, climbed under the covers and suggested we pretend to be husband and wife. He started showing me how to kiss, let me touch his genitals and then touched me. And from then on, to put it delicately, I caressed him, and he caressed me. We also had full intimacy.»
Investigation may be reopened
According to Berg, an earlier attempt to pursue criminal proceedings was unsuccessful because investigators lacked sufficient evidence, despite conducting examinations and other investigative procedures.
She recently informed her followers that she is once again participating in legal proceedings and that the case is being reviewed.
She said law enforcement authorities are currently reexamining the circumstances of the case. As part of that process, she expects to undergo additional interviews, consultations with specialists and other investigative procedures.
Authorities have not publicly announced any charges related to the case, and Berg’s allegations remain under review.
