Jasmine Begalinova, a 19-year-old high jumper from eastern Kazakhstan, has unexpectedly become a social media sensation after photos from her competitions went viral on Instagram and Threads. She recently gave her first interview to novosti__uka.
About the athlete
Begalinova is a professional high jumper who is also studying to become a coach. Athletics takes up most of her time, with a schedule filled with training sessions, training camps and competitions. On Feb. 19, 2026, she won a silver medal at the Kazakhstan Junior Championships.
She admitted that her sudden popularity on social media came as a surprise, but said she was grateful for the support she received from fellow Kazakhstanis.
«What warmed my heart most was seeing comments from our people,» the athlete said.
Appearance and sport
Begalinova believes the attention she has received can help attract more interest to athletics.
«I think it is a good thing when people pay attention to sports. My advice to everyone is to exercise and stay active. It is good for your health, your well-being and your appearance,» she said.
Hobbies and biggest dream
Outside of sport, Begalinova enjoys music and fashion.
«I love playing the guitar, especially the electric guitar. I also do modeling and design. In my free time, I sketch and sew,» she said.
Her biggest dream is to clear the 1.80-meter mark in the high jump and earn the title of Master of Sports.
Begalinova also thanked her growing fan base.
